    How it Works:

    Digestion is the physiological process of rendering the food we eat into the beneficial nutrients our body needs. Probiotics are beneficial bacterial that contribute to the wellbeing of the digestive tract, as well as the body as a whole. Enzymes are small proteins and are categorized by their specific activity into proteases (protein digesting), carbohydrases (carbohydrate digesting) or  lipases (fat digesting). Quality enzyme products are only as good as their performance or strength of enzyme activities, which is not merely measured by milligrams, but measured in the laboratory using compendial methodologies to describe their individual biological activity.

    Naturally found in humans and animals, L. acidophilus is one of the most well-known of the probiotic family of healthy bacteria, and may aid in the production of multiple B vitamins (Niacin, Folic Acid and Pyridoxine). It is effective in inhibiting pathogenic microorganisms from inhabiting and growing.*  L. acidophilus produces natural antibacterials and has an effective antimicrobial effect against Staphylococcus Aureus, Salmonella, E. coli Rotavirus, and Candida Albian’s.

    Bifidobacterium longum is a lactic acid bacterium that can excrete both lactic acid and acetic acid into the environment. In clinical studies it has been found to stimulate the immune system and reduce the frequency of gastrointestinal disorders, such as diarrhea and nausea.*

    Lactobacillus casei is a lactic acid-producing bacterium of human origin and has some of the same immuno-modulating effects as other Lactobacilli species.* It is beneficial to those who are lactose intolerant, as it aids in the digestion of lactose.*

    Bifidobacterium breve is a gram-positive bacteria which can produce lactic acid. It is found in the lower intestinal tract of infants and in some adults. Researchers have found B. breve to be capable of inhibiting E. coli and to be beneficial in people suffering from certain types of diarrhea.*

    Lactobacillus brevis is a lactic acid bacterium that appears to be important to the synthesis of Vitamins D and K. Ingestion has been shown to support human immune function.*

    Digest-ALL® IC contains three proteases from plant and fungal sources that are active in a wide pH range of 3 to 9 at body temperature and in the presence of moisture. Proteases can hydrolyze protein to various amino acids. The activity across a wide pH range is important as the product starts working immediately in the low pH of the stomach and continues to work in the higher pH of the small and large intestines.

    Digest-ALL® IC contains a wide range of powerful carbohydrate digesting enzymes. Amylase and glucoamylase break down carbohydrates, starches and sugars that are prevalent in potatoes, fruits, vegetables and snack foods. Lactase aids in the digestion of lactose, the primary sugar found in dairy products and milk. It is very useful for individuals suffering from lactose intolerance. Cellulase breaks down fiber found in fruits and vegetables, aiding in the ability to absorb their precious nutrients. Invertase catalyzes the inversion of sucrose (table sugar) to glucose and fructose to be readily used as an energy source. Maltase digests maltose, malt and grain sugar, and breaks down complex and simple sugars. CereCalase® is a specific blend designed for fruits and vegetables as it breaks up plant cell was and phytic acid, two components of plants and seeds that stand in the way of getting the vital nutrients these foods can provide.

    Lipase is an enzyme that hydrolyzes lipids, the ester bonds in triglycerides, to form fatty acids and glycerol. Once thought to be bad, fats are now better understood and an adequate supply of essential fatty acids in the diet are important to ensure healthy cells. Lipase is the primary digestive enzyme used to split fats into fatty acids and glycerol, which is necessary for proper absorption and utilization.

    The herb triphala has been used for centuries to support peristalsis, the contractions that help the smooth muscle of the intestines to move food through the digestion process. Peppermint and ginger have plant compounds that soothe the digestive tract during the digestion process.
